Tim makes his excuses

Image of Tim Key’s letter from the stage manager at the Old Vic Theatre, excusing him from being able to grow out a fingernail (but not a toenail...).

Tim reveals that he could not participate in the task, presenting a note from the stage manager at the Old Vic Theatre as his excuse.

The note reads “To Whom It May Concern, Tim Key was employed as an actor in Daniel Kitson’s production of Tree at the Old Vic Theatre in London from January 5th to February 22nd 2015. The character he portrayed was a nervous man, therefore it was important Tim Kept his fingernails very short to give the impression that he was the type of man who would bite his nails anxiously. As such, he was unable to undertake the task requested of him to grow his fingernail for the Taskmaster television programme until after he had completed his contractual duties on Tree. Thank you, Jenefer Tait”.

However, Frank points out that he’d been to watch Tim performing in the play, and Tim had been wearing shoes throughout the performance.

Tim attempts to counter the argument that he could have grown out a toenail by claiming that his character’s back-story included the fact that he was also biting his toenails.

Greg is also clearly having none of Tim’s attempt to excuse himself for not competing, but puts him in last place instead of disqualifying him completely.
