Frank ‘senses’ the pies
Frank sniffs at, and inspects the bases of, several pies, and then appears to use pure guesswork to deduct their contents, under the naïve assumption that the contents are remotely typical pie fillings.
In the studio, Greg refers to Frank’s approach of trying to ‘sense’ the pies’ contents as an attempt at being ‘sort of a pie whisperer’ (thus coining the title of this episode).
Back in the lab, Frank gets to discover the contents of the pies for himself.
The one that he guessed was a steak and kidney pie actually contained a picture of the Taskmaster.
The one that he guessed contained cheese and potato actually contained steak.
The one that he guessed contained steak and onion actually contained frozen peas.
The one that he guessed would be a steak and ale pie was actually a marble pie.
In summary, he guessed all of the pies incorrectly, ironically only failing to suggest steak as a filling for the one pie that actually did contain steak (but which he guessed was a sweet potato and leek pie).
Unsurprisingly, he places last overall for the task.
Greg reveals via additional video footage that Frank was never able to determine the contents of the toothpaste pie, even after he’d opened it up, incorrectly guessing that it contained milk, yoghurt, Extra Strong Mints, or mint-flavoured Tipp-Ex correction fluid.
