Jack bamboozles Alex with maths and love

As Jack begins reading the task brief, he realises the reason why the oar has the word ‘either’ written on it, asking Alex “Is it called The Either Oar?”.
Having read the brief, he states that performing 100 press-ups is not a thing he wants to do on camera, particularly since he’d eaten a curry the previous night. In the studio, Greg says “I’m sure I speak for the nation when I say I would love to see Jack Dee shit himself on television whilst doing press-ups, but that’s not going to happen”.
Jack initially decides that he’s going to search for the haystack, but after Alex reminds him that he’ll then also have to find the needle inside the haystack, he thinks better of it, and decides to roll the dice instead.
Jack takes a creative approach to rolling five fives in a row, stating that he’ll achieve it by adding up and subtracting his rolled numbers from one another. He rolls a one, then a three, then a six, which he adds together to make 10, claiming that this is the same as rolling two fives. He then rolls a four and a one, which he adds together to come up with his third five. Finally, he rolls a six and a four, which he again adds together to make up his fourth and fifth fives.
In the studio, Greg puts it to Jack that his method for rolling five fives was “horse shit”. When Jack attempts to argue that what he’d done was equivalent to rolling five fives, Alex backs him up, stating that he had actually managed to roll a total of 25 with consecutive rolls. This prompts Emma to restate her claim that Alex “gets cute and scared around Jack”, and lets him do whatever he wants. When Alex attempts to defend himself, Greg states “He fooled you with maths and with love”, before announcing that he’s not approving Jack’s method.
Greg ultimately awards Jack 1 point for at least employing some lateral thinking in his attempt, telling Alex that “I will, like you, give him one”.
