Alex is a slow eater

Alex gets off to a rough start, as a sudden laughing fit causes him to let go of his half-inflated balloon, forcing him to start over.

As he starts to wrap the balloon, he tells Antoine that the monotonous tick of the metronome reminds him of being in The Shining – specifically, Danny’s dull repetition of “redrum”.

Like most of the contestants, Alex gets caught up trying to peel the tape from its roll.

It’s unclear from the edit of Alex’s attempt, but either the balloon-wrapping took longer than it seemed, or Alex took his time eating the crackers, because he runs out of time before he can finish eating them all (in the studio, Antoine clarifies that Alex had only eaten five crackers).

With 103 missed ‘metronome’s, Alex earns last place.
