Richardson’s ticket wordplay

Richardson brings in a pair of VIP season tickets to attend an upcoming game for the Montreal Canadiens hockey team.

He warns whoever wins the episode that if the tickets are rejected at the entrance to the stadium, then it’s not his problem. Richardson is playing on the word ‘ressort’, which means ‘spring’, but also means ‘spirit’ or ‘energy’ (i.e. the atmosphere of a live sports event), and ‘responsibility’ when used specifically in the context of legalese.

His remark about the tickets possibly being fraudulent not being his responsibility is met with cheers and applause from the audience, as well as Bianca. Louis, however, tells Richardson that he detests wordplay, and threatens to actually dock points from him.

Richardson claims that he will “seduce” Louis around to his way of thinking by the end of the season (he actually succeeds midway through this episode, though Louis will not admit it). For making such a promise, Louis awards Richardson last place.
