Mathew sings a “Pretty looc” song

As Mathew enters the living room, he refers to Alex as a “Cool guy”.

After reading the task brief, he ponders the meaning of cool, initially suggesting that it means “not caring”, but then questioning whether it’s actually really cool to be passionate. He then leaves the room to find a guitar.

Mathew’s cool thing is a short song with the following lyrics:

Don’t let the bad kids get you down
Turn that big frown upside-down
You’d be a fool
If you thought that not caring was cool

For his reversed recreation, Mathew attempts to sing his lyrics and play the guitar backwards, and doesn’t do a terrible job, but obviously has to perform the song much more slowly, and subtitles are needed.

At the end of his performance, he says “Pretty looc”, and Alex agrees that it was “Really looc”.

In the studio, Greg says that he’d thought that Mathew was “this generation’s Morrissey” before he’d even seen the reversed performance. When Greg describes the song as “quite ‘70s Eurovision”, Mathew suggests that “It straddles the genres”.

Greg decides to award Mathew 5 points for his “beautiful song”, because he thinks that it had “moved the hearts of the nation”.
