Aaron aces the task with towels

Aaron requests a bunch of towels or fabric for his attempt. He then carries the bucket to the balcony and starts soaking the towels in the bucket. When Tom Cashman asks what he’s doing, Aaron explains that he’s soaking the coffee into the towels in order to reduce spillage.

Having placed as many towels as possible into the bucket, Aaron tapes over the top of the bucket, wraps it in more towels, and also cushions the drop zone below with yet more towels and a pillow.

When he drops the bucket from the balcony, it bounces on the soft landing he has created, and barely any coffee spills out at all. Aaron holds a finger to the camera and announces “Number one”.

In the studio, Tom Gleeson describes Aaron’s attempt as perhaps the best-executed task he’s seen on the show so far.

Despite the fact that Aaron had spilled a few drops of coffee from the bucket while carrying it up to the balcony, Tom Cashman reveals that 6.94 litres of coffee remained. When multiplied by the from 5 metre height from which Aaron had dropped the bucket, this works out to 34.7 litre-metres, which earns him 5 points.
