Episode 5: Big stupid things
Episode synopsis
In this episode, the contestants must bring in the thing that is best when you add liquid to it, direct a robot to its charging station, make the strongest smell, present the most heart-warming final local news story, and land their skydiver closest to the centre of a target.
In a thrilling tie-breaker, two contestants must then guess how old Alex will be on Christmas Day.
Title context
Emma Sidi states that she just loves “Big stupid things”, during studio discussion of her reaction to seeing Alex dressed as a robot for the ‘Direct the robot to its charging station’ task.
Taskmaster Intro
Hello, and welcome to Taskmaster – the answer to the question, ‘What if five people squandered the opportunities afforded by parents and education in search of a demonstrably worthless prize?’. We’re at the halfway point now. Literally any of the five could take the top spot. They need to work hard or, like so many of our previous winners, come to my dressing room with a suitcase full of quality meat. Papa likes a mixed grill!
Assistant Intro
And next to me, a man who confided in me that he considers people who work for the Fire Service to be the least intelligent of all emergency staff... it’s Little Alex Horne.
Taskmaster's Sign-off
What have we learnt today? Sometimes on Taskmaster, we learn profound things about life, and sometimes those profound things are short, succinct, sweet. For example, today we just learnt… my mum’s a slag. We’re halfway to the final. And the winner of the night, to mark the occasion, is the incredible Emma Sidi!
