Gert Verhulst
Biography
Gert Tony Hubert Verhulst (born 24 January 1968 in Berchem) is a Belgian presenter, entrepreneur, singer, director, actor, screenwriter, composer, film producer, millionaire, and business magnate.
As a prominent figure within the children’s entertainment industry in the Benelux region, he is regarded as a Flemish cultural icon.
He began his career in 1989 as a continuity announcer on children’s television, creating the puppet dog character Samson to make his segments more entertaining. The pair were given their own show, Samson en Gert, starting in 1990, which was broadcast until 2019.
Between 1992 and 1997 he also presented the television game show Zeg eens Euh! (inspired by the British radio game show, Just a Minute).
In 1996 he co-founded the media production company Studio 100.
In 1997 he began presenting the show Wat zegt u?.
In 1998 he guest presented the show Sterrenslag.
In 1999 he presented the show Linx and the dialect game show Watte?.
In 2016 he hosted Het Grootste Licht, the Flemish version of the British TV show Taskmaster.
Between 2017 and 2020 he presented the show Gert Late Night.
Today, Studio 100 is a multi-national entertainment brand which produces TV, film, live events, online games and books, and runs several theme parks.
