Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Fern brings in a harness and leash that she bought for her cat, with the mistaken idea that she'd be able to take the cat out for walks. A video is shown of her cat rejecting - and immediately escaping from - the harness, which Fern spent £70 on, and which Greg describes as looking "fairly S&M" in nature. He awards the harness joint third place.
- Dara brings in what he calls a 'worm trumpet', which he says you're supposed to lie on the ground with, so you can hear the worms moving around in the soil. What it actually appears to be is a wooden Pinard horn - a type of stethoscope typically used to listen for the heartbeat of a fetus. [Note: these devices are apparently sold as 'worm trumpets' at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.] Greg awards Dara second place.
- John brings in a set of Subbuteo (table football game) figures which includes a streaker (naked man) and two police officers. He then admits to not actually even owning a Subbuteo set for it to go with. Greg suggests that this prize submission is "one of the strongest things John has done on the show so far", and ultimately awards him first place.
- Munya brings in a Golden Snitch (object from the fictional game of Quidditch, from the Harry Potter universe) fidget spinner, which - he makes the mistake of mentioning - cost him £15. He says the item has emotional significance because his strict Christian father would not let him watch Harry Potter. Despite the fact that the item does not qualify within the rules of the task, Greg decides to give Munya an opportunity to lie to him about how much it cost, after hearing his sob-story about having to watch Harry Potter in secret. Munya then says that it cost him £21, and Greg awards him joint third place, with Fern.
- Sarah brings in a mandoline vegetable slicer, from which she says she threw away the part called the 'finger protector', leading her to take the top of her finger off while slicing courgettes. Greg judges that the mandoline is actually quite a useful item, if used properly, but decides to award Sarah two points, rather than one, since she cut off part of her finger with it.
