Josh uses up all of his questions
Josh misses the Duck-to-English key on the first page of the Duck Pocket Dictionary so, unlike everyone else, has no idea what the quacks mean.
He does identify that he needs to find out which team of ducks is lying, so he asks duck number 7 (a lying, blue duck) if it’s on the blue team, and receives two quacks in response (no). He then asks duck number 5 (another lying, blue duck) if he’s wearing white shoes (which he is), and again receives two quacks in response (no).
After asking duck number 3 (a truth-telling, red duck) if the sky is red, and receiving a single quack in response, he seems to have worked out that the ducks’ responses must correspond to answers of ‘yes’ or ‘no’, but he’s already forgotten what he’s already asked and what their responses were, so he is still confused.
Josh asks duck number 10 (a truth-telling, red duck) if it is not a duck, and receives two quacks in response, before admitting that he feels like he’s misunderstood something. He then asks duck number 9 (a lying, blue duck) if its male version would be a gander, and receives one quack in response. By this point, Josh has begun making notes in the notebook, while sheltering from the rain under his umbrella.
When Josh asks Tom how many questions he has left, Tom says that he has just one, indicating that Josh has already asked nine of the ducks questions.
Josh then asks duck number 8 whether it is much bigger than a duck, before correctly accusing it of being the goose, completely by luck, after 10 questions. This earns him 3 points.
