Jack mutters his way into last place

Jack initially remains seated on the stage, and identifies the teapot. When another item does not immediately appear on the screen, he turns around, throws his hands up, and asks “Is that it?”.

He then begins counting seats from the stage, with his back to the screen, so he fails to identify the rabbit, the egg cup, and the elephant.

Jack leaves the stage and heads towards the back of the cinema, counting rows of seating as he goes. He apparently does remember to look at the screen occasionally, since he is seen correctly identifying the tortoise, the robin, and an exercise ball. When Alex states that the exercise ball “looks like a lime at first”, Jack quickly disagrees.

Having presumably counted both the number of seats in a row and the number of rows in the cinema, Jack then attempts to perform a mental calculation to arrive at his answer, but instead resorts to performing the calculation on his phone. He gives his answer as 345 seats and, when Alex points out that that’s a lot, quickly responds “Well, it’s a cinema, isn’t it?”.

In the studio, Jack claims that he wasn’t using the calculator on his phone, but was calling his agent.

Before revealing Jack’s time, Alex asks Greg to review some additional footage of his attempt. In this footage, Jack clearly mutters the word “three” to himself while attempting to perform mental arithmetic. When Alex asks Greg to decide whether this is what had happened, Jack interjects with “Course I bloody said it. You know…”.

Alex reveals that Jack’s total completion time, taking penalties into account, was more than Rosie’s 5 hours, 38 minutes, and 39 seconds, which earns him just 1 point.
