Babatunde meditates on food

As he gets to the part of the task brief about eating a raw onion, Babatunde states “That definitely ain’t happening”.

He decides that he’s going to just sit silently for 10 minutes, but warns everyone that they might hear his belly rumbling, because he’s hungry.

After just one and a half minutes of sitting in silence, Babatunde points to the mat with a quizzical expression on his face, prompting Alex to explain that he could eat an onion on the mat, or use it to perform press-ups. Babatunde shrugs, picks up the mat, and then stands up, failing his first attempt to sit silently. After unrolling the mat, he then freezes as he realises his mistake, and sits back down to try again.

This time, Babatunde closes his eyes, apparently meditating while he waits for the 10 minutes to end. Alex attempts to engage him in conversation, asking him if he’s having many thoughts, and specifically whether he’s “mainly thinking about Greg” (to which Babatunde shakes his head emphatically), or about Alex himself (to which he again shakes his head). Babatunde then mimes eating, conveying that he’s mainly thinking about food.

As the task timer approaches 10 minutes, Alex asks Babatunde whether he thinks he’s nearly finished, but Babatunde shakes his head, well aware that Alex is trying to trick him. At this point, he still has about two and a half minutes remaining, since his timer had been reset after his failed first attempt. He’d clearly made note of what time was showing on the task timer when he restarted, though, since he ends his silence exactly on the 10-minute mark, before expressing his relief at not having to “eat no nasty-arse raw onion”.

In the studio, Alex reveals that it had taken Babatunde 12 minutes and 15 seconds to sit silently for 10 minutes, which earns him 2 points.
