Babatunde overcomes everything to become a low-effort goose

After reading the task brief, Babatunde looks around the room and asks whether he needs to look for a goose, so Alex tells him that he needs to decide what ‘The Goose’ is. Babatunde responds “Who comes up with this stuff, bruv? What am I su…? I don’t know how a goose acts.”

In the studio, after stating that he loves these open-ended tasks, Greg confirms with Babatunde that he had not enjoyed it one bit, and Babatunde states that “I think this was the task I reached my breaking point”.

As his attempt is introduced in the studio, he is clearly embarrassed by what he did, which was to simply waddle across the living room while flapping his arms like a bird, squat in the centre of the rug, and then simulate laying the golden egg in its eggcup, before waddling off again.

In the studio, Alex notes that it hadn’t taken Babatunde as long to complete his attempt as some of the others. He then claims that Babatunde had “overcome a lot” to complete his attempt, quoting him as saying “I don’t want to be a goose on TV. Everyone in Tottenham won’t talk to me if I’ve been a goose.”

Babatunde attempts to guilt Greg into not penalising him for his poor attempt by noting that he is a young black man from the inner city, and he pretends to tear up while talking about how tough it is to “make it out of the hood”, and how he’s now made it onto Taskmaster and is sat next to one of his “absolute heroes”, Jack Dee. Alex summarises Babatunde’s story as “He overcame everything to become a goose”, and then Greg whispers to Alex “But the goose was shit”. Emma then chimes in to ask Babatunde “Also, didn’t you move to the home counties quite a while ago?”.

When Alex asks Greg to decide which ‘The Goose’ was worst, Babatunde snorts, and Greg says “Come on, it was Baba”. Baba earns just 1 point for his minimal effort.
