Jack distributes leaflets in his cardboard plane

Jack’s attempt begins with Alex opening the door of the Taskmaster house and asking him if he’s ready to present ‘The Goose’. Jack confirms that he is, and is revealed to be wearing a prop plane constructed entirely from cardboard, along with a helmet and goggles.

When Alex asks him why his plane is called ‘The Goose’, Jack indicates that it’s a nod to Howard Hughes’ wooden aircraft The Spruce Goose.

Jack then explains that his plane is intended for distributing promotional fliers for events such as the opening of a new supermarket. After handing Alex a hand-drawn example flier for ‘Horne’s New Supermarket’ (which apparently sells milk, bleach, and ‘cheap stuff’), Jack then ‘flies’ his aircraft around the garden (generously helped by some special effects to show him flying through the sky), dropping leaflets onto the lawn behind him.

In the studio, Greg highlights “the difference that SFX can make”, claiming that when Jack was shown soaring across the sky in his plane, he’d imagined a children’s franchise, but that when the special effects were taken away, “You’re sort of left with a confused man in the high street who the kids are throwing stones at.”

Greg ultimately decides to award Jack 2 points, since the narrative of his presentation was not very complex.
