Virginie imitates Marie Carmen

After the task brief is read, Louis sings that the task is “between darkness and light” (a lyric from singer Marie Carmen’s 1992 song by the same name), thus coining the episode title.

In the studio, everyone else joins in, with Virginie imitating the singer’s style, and Louis asks Virginie if she wants to continue her impression. When Virginie says she will if it will earn her points, Louis says that he’ll give her 2 extra points if she does. Virginie then sings a few more bars, and has 2 points added to her score.

Virginie’s silhouette is made from card, several inflated balloons, a pool noodle, and a few rulers of different sizes. Looking over the objects again in the studio, Virginie admits that she has forgotten what she’d done with them.

Virginie’s recreation, which does not have a title, depicts the life of a balloon caterpillar, as it bemoans the lack of meaning in its life. Seeing no hope in its future, it decides to take a long nap, only to awaken as a butterfly several months later, elated at its ability to fly and see the world.

Louis awards Virginie joint second place.
