Aksel makes a mess

Aksel seems to understand early on that whatever the solution word is, it is made up of the first letter of whatever is in each shot glass, as he notes these letters on the chalkboard while he makes his way down the line of shot glasses.

Starting with the glasses furthest away from the chalkboard, Aksel correctly identifies the cod liver oil and the vinegar, before getting hung up on the toilet water. For everything he tastes, he subsequently spits on the lab floor, regardless of whether he’d swallowed any of the liquid or not.

Although Aksel seems to have identified the majority of the shot glass contents correctly, based on the letters he’d written on the board, he ultimately solves the task the way everyone else does – by re-reading the task brief and realising that ‘løsningsordet’ appears within the text (he even counts the letters to make sure it will fit on the board).

Seemingly annoyed by the trick, Aksel then sweeps his hand across the table, sending all of the shot glasses and their contents crashing to the floor, before leaving the lab.

Aksel completes the task in 5 minutes and 5 seconds, and earns third place.
