Erik the slapstick clown

Erik opts to perform as a mime-based clown, with his act reminiscent of old slapstick routines.

He first mimes having difficulty pushing the curtain leading into the living room open in order to make his entrance, then – with great difficulty – pushes in the children’s play slide that normally resides in the garden.

Erik then falls over the slide, and is unable to right himself, scrabbling around on the ground in attempt to pull himself back up, and keeping the slide stuck on one of his giant clown shoes.

He eventually manages to pull himself up on top of the slide and then slide down it, then get to his feet, only to fall once again while leaving the room.

In the studio, Erik admits that he thought this task would be very easy for him, as he had worked in children’s television for three decades, but that he was disappointed with his attempt. He also muses that while his character was excellent, he believes that the demographic that would least enjoy him would be “tattooed men in their 40s” (i.e. Marvin).

Marvin awards Erik fourth place, saying: “Thought-out, but forced.”
