Pete uses an oar

Having read the task brief, Pete visits the shed and returns with a wooden oar. When Tom Cashman asks him if there was a reason he’d chose that particular one, “or was it either oar?”, Pete smiles and says “Nice.”
Pete stands on the edge of the mat and reaches across to apply pressure to the scales with the oar. Tom helpfully points out that his foot is slightly over the edge of the mat. As Pete starts to get some readings on the scale, Tom tells him he needs to register a consistent weight.
Pete registers various weights between 19.5kg to 21.1kg, then tries placing a life jacket between the oar and the scale and continues to get different results. As Tom reads the weights out and observes that they are becoming smaller, Pete claims that the scales are no good. The final weight he manages to register is 16.5kg.
In the studio, Tom Gleeson notes that he felt both Pete and Rhys had picked the most obvious way to solve the task, and asks if they think it will be enough. Pete says that he didn’t like the task, and felt like it was too much work. He also says that he doesn’t weigh himself a lot as there is already enough bad news online. Pete earns 3 points.
