Rhys gets disqualified for using ChatGPT

Having read the task brief, Rhys laments that they can neither sing nor play an instrument.

In the studio, they admit that they’d asked ChatGPT to write them a funny two-verse country song about a man named Matt who takes photos of his friend’s truck.

Rhys’ AI-generated song is titled ‘Old Matt’s Picture Takin’ Man’, and Rhys sings it in a surprisingly deep voice. Their video shows them taking pictures of a truck, lying in bed surrounded by photos, dressing as Matt’s wife, and even stroking the truck. At the end, they are seen hugging their ‘family’ in the kitchen, after deciding not to focus so much on trucks.

The lyrics to Rhys’ song are as follows:

His camera in hand, he shoots away

In the studio, Tom Gleeson admits that Rhys’ song was surprisingly good, but questions why their singing voice sounds more normal than their speaking voice. Rhys responds, in a deep drawl, “It’s my real voice now.”

Tom Cashman re-reads the task brief, emphasising that it had stated that the contestants must ‘write’ their songs. Since Rhys didn’t write their song themself, but had outsourced it to an AI, they are disqualified. Rhys responds by singing “Oh no!” in their new, deep country voice.
