Mel holds her item up with some “op shop shit”

Mel reads the task brief and immediately claims “I’m not a magician.” When Tom Cashman asks her if she thinks that this is what magicians do, she responds affirmatively, calling it a trick.

She begins by sticking a cloth badge to the ceiling. She then picks up a wooden mug and mutters, “Can’t touch the item once it’s stuck.” Wondering if another item can touch the glued one, she then uses the mug to hold the task brief against the ceiling.

As she waits for two minutes to pass for the task brief, the cloth badge falls from the ceiling. When the two minutes are up, Mel removes the wooden mug, allowing the task brief to fall.

In the studio, Mel refers to the wooden mug as “a wooden piece of op shop shit” (an ‘op shop’ is a charity or thrift store) and the badge as one a scout might earn for “best blow job, or whatever”. When Rhys jokes that they’ve earned four such badges, Tom Gleeson announces “He’s back!”.

Tom Cashman reveals that Mel’s badge had remained attached for 1 minute and 40 seconds, while she’d held the task brief against the ceiling using the wooden mug for 2 minutes and 7 seconds.

Tom Gleeson accepts her method as valid, so she earns 4 points.
