Pete’s girth-based strategy is scuppered by Rhys

Pete begins his attempt by stating that he doesn’t think Tom Cashman will expect him to be in the kennel. He then crawls in, feet first, and pulls the flap shut behind him. When Tom steps out of the shed and immediately guesses that Pete is in the kennel, Pete peeks out and asks him how he’d known, and Tom replies “Rhys told me” (Rhys had, indeed, advised Tom to guess the kennel first for Pete’s attempt, at the end of their own turn).

Pete admits that it was disappointing, noting that he’d been chuckling to himself, thinking “This is bloody brilliant.” When Tom asks if he wants to come out of the kennel, Pete begins crawling back out the way he’d gotten in. When Tom says he’d imagined Pete emerging through the top of the kennel, Pete looks surprised and asks “Can you go through the top?”.

In the studio, when Rhys attempts to apologise for correctly predicting Pete’s first hiding place, Pete says that he’ll forgive them one day, but that it’s going to take time. Rhys insists that they’d only said “kennel” as a way of calling Pete a dog. Pete admits that he’d really thought that, as a “man of girth”, Tom wouldn’t have expected him to fit through the front flap of the kennel, having been completely unaware that it was possible to climb in through the roof instead.

Pete is found after just one guess, but earns 2 points.
