Mahamad makes an egg timer

Here's a description of the contestant's attempt. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to illustrate it.

Mahamad is the only contestant who doesn’t know how long it takes to make a soft-boiled egg; he decides his egg timer needs to measure three minutes – half the actual time needed. Mahamad decides to make an hourglass – when Mark places the egg into boiling water, he must then pour a glass of salt into a paper funnel – once the salt has passed through the funnel, the egg should be cooked. The hourglass isn’t bad, but because Mahamad only planned for three minutes, the egg is very undercooked. Mahamad’s cooking time of 2 minutes 17 seconds earns him fourth place.
