Bård's ski pole tower

Validating his brother's prediction that he will try to cheat in some way, Bård decides to bend the rules somewhat by supporting his tower with a nearby tree.

He primarily builds his tower out of a large quantity of ski poles, taped together with gaffer tape, and he pops his egg into a gaffer tape ‘nest’ at the top.

While working, he coins the episode title when he muses "What people did before gaffer tape?", and then answers himself by supposing "they probably just sat inside".

Bård then immediately gets some of said gaffer tape stuck to itself, and starts swearing at it.

He attaches his ski poles to the pedestal, which now also has a coat rack and a plastic tube taped to it.

He climbs up into the tree and, once he has reached the height of the second storey windows, decides to quit while he’s ahead.

Atle has no problems with his supported tower, so Bård earns first place with this tower measuring 7 metres and 28 centimetres.
