Jesper the military interrogator

In the studio, before the footage of his attempt is shown, Jesper nervously says that he was not aware that the number of questions was counted.

When Mark asks if there was anything else Jesper was worried about, he replies that he does not remember having whispered during the task.

Mark then apologises to Jesper, noting that Jesper had shown up at the house that day complaining about having a soar throat.

When the footage of Jesper’s attempt begins, it quickly becomes evident why Mark had apologised: Jesper’s task brief had dictated that he must shout all of his questions, rather than whispering them.

In his attempt, Jesper seemingly yells random occupations at Lisbeth, including lighthouse keeper, gas station owner, jewellery shop owner, gem dealer, and professional footballer.

After thinking for a while, Jesper then focuses on the fact that Lisbeth is lying, and so guesses that Lisbeth must be an actor, “because actors lie about everything”.

He tests his incorrect theory by asking Lisbeth if she is 24 years of age.

He then returns to yelling out random jobs, asking Lisbeth if she trades cryptocurrency, or is a weapon smith, a “bandage specialist”, or sews handball shoes.

Jesper then takes another break, before yelling another group of random jobs at Lisbeth, including carpenter, medical laboratory technologist, healthcare worker, woodworker, bricklayer, painter, chimney sweep, watch-maker, and drug trafficker.

He then gets quite close to Lisbeth, staring into her eyes for a while, before resuming his wild guesses, and eventually resorting to just reading professions from an alphabetical list he’s found online, on his phone, including: eyebrow stylist, hairdresser, lawyer, paramedic, asphalt layer, offshore asphalt layer, crane operator, offshore crane operator, mobile crane operator, and offshore mobile crane operator (Mark reveals many of Jesper’s unshown guesses, in the studio).

Eventually, Jesper asks Lisbeth an actual question: in her job, does she work with cars on a daily basis? When she shakes her head in response to this, Jesper guesses that Lisbeth is a truck driver, before correctly guessing that she is a driving instructor.

In the studio, Lasse comments on Jesper’s straddling of the thin line between Stormester task and military interrogation, also noting that many of Jesper’s guesses were particularly far-fetched.

Jesper counters by saying that Stormester is the kind of programme that would find someone with such a niche job as part of a task, and Lasse admits that this is true.

Mark reveals that, mostly thanks to Jesper’s use of the online list of professions, he had made a total of 178 guesses before arriving at the correct answer.

Jesper solves the task in 35 minutes, and earns fourth place.
