Melvin finds the toothpicks

The footage shown of Melvin’s attempt begins midway through his time, with him lamenting that he wants a stick to put through the lemons, to keep them upright.

He has been smart about his allotted knife uses, stacking several lemons on top of each other, so he can slice them all in half simultaneously with a single cut.

Thanks to this method, Melvin eventually cuts through enough lemons to find the toothpicks – 20 seconds before his time is over.

Melvin’s final lemon tower is 9 centimetres tall, which earns him second place.
