Melvin uses helium
Melvin builds a large slingshot out of a sawhorse and some rubber tubing.
When he can’t get his idea to work, he suddenly realises that he could tie the astronaut to a bunch of helium balloons and release them.
With Mark’s help, Melvin gets a bundle of helium balloons blown up – only to accidentally release them.
With time running out, Melvin is able to tie a few helium balloons to the astronaut, and uses his slingshot to provide the astronaut’s launch.
However, the balloons get tangled up in the sawhorse, leaving the astronaut stuck on Earth.
In the studio, it is revealed that Melvin’s astronaut was the furthest away from the moon at the time of his attempt.
Lasse awards Melvin last place.
