Melvin stretches the definition of commonality

Melvin asks Inge if she plays music.

When Inge responds in the negative, she explains that she was trained as a teacher before becoming a pastor.

Melvin shakes Inge’s hand, as he was also trained as a teacher (he also mentions that his mother is a pastor, and shakes on that).

Melvin asks Inge what her husband does and, when she replies that he used to be a pastor, Melvin shakes her hand, saying that his father is a pastor as well.

In the studio, Lasse and the other contestants point out that Melvin mostly shook hands on things that were not actually commonalities.

When pressed, Melvin is unable to say what he and Inge have in common, even though it was shown that the two both trained as teachers.

When asked to identify a commonality after everyone else’s attempts have been shown, Melvin says that he remembers Inge saying that she once took her students to an age-inappropriate event, and that he had done so as well.

Melvin confesses that he had taken a class of 11-year-olds to an art exhibit which was “clearly pornographic”, and had given them all the rest of the day off in exchange for never speaking of the event.

Lasse awards Melvin fourth place.
