Sue’s animal art

Sue brings in an original artwork painted by a chimpanzee she calls “Henry the Liberated Chimpanzee”.

The painting could largely be described as an abstract work, with Henry definitely going through his blue period, using a block of wood as his canvas. Sue points out that the work is actually mixed media using blue acrylic and banana puree.

She goes on to explain that she once visited a chimpanzee sanctuary that housed chimps rescued from laboratories, and the day she went was the day that the male and female chimpanzees had been introduced to one another for the first time. Henry had purportedly been the only chimpanzee who had not been interested in the females, and had instead engaged in other activities on his own, such as painting. The sanctuary staff had then sent the painting to her a short time later.

Greg awards Sue second place.
