Julian’s ‘highbrow’ signs
Julian prefaces his submission by saying that he’d come across his sign in the green room at the Hull Literary Festival (actually called the Humber Mouth Literary Festival).
Greg expresses surprise that Julian would bring his sign from somewhere so highbrow, particularly considering the other prizes already submitted for the task.
Julian’s submission turns out to actually be a photo of two pieces of paper stuck to the wall above a table, onto which someone had written ‘Food for artists’, indicating that the underwhelming food provided on the table (mainly bananas and Jaffa Cakes) was for the artists in attendance. There is also a smiley face drawn on one of the pieces of paper.
Greg calls the spread on offer “low-rent” but Julian counters that it’s “unpretentious”. He also admits that he didn’t actually steal the signs, as then “the artists wouldn’t know where to eat”.
Greg awards Julian last place.
