Original version
Herd the ping pong balls into a pen
In this version of the task the contestants have to herd the ping pong balls along a railway platform. There is also a marked ball which, if herded into the pen, halves the contestant's total.
Adapted versions
In this version of the task the contestants have to herd the balls across a humped pedestrian bridge over a waterway. There are no special balls present to affect the outcome. David is carrying a leafblower, which is also available to the contestants.
In this version of the task, which takes place on an ice rink, the ping pong balls are pained to look like Santa Claus, and have to be relocated to a pen designated as his workshop. Two special balls are present: a green one which, if relocated, doubles the number of balls moved; and a black one which, if relocated, disqualifies the contestant.
