Kongen Befaler: Season 7 and Christmas Special Commissioned

Good news for fans of Kongen Befaler this week, with news that Discovery has commissioned both a Christmas special and a seventh season.

This news was revealed yesterday in an article on Kampanje.com, based on a Warner Bros Discovery press release.

According to that press release, the show continues to average over 500,000 viewers per episode, so a seventh season had been commissioned for 2023, in addition to a two-episode Christmas special for the end of 2022.

Details of the casts have not yet been revealed, but the news of the Christmas special raises the possibility that they'll either be bringing back some former contestants for a 'Champion of Champions' or 'Second Chance' special, or will perhaps be casting from outside the normal pool of contestants, in the style of Taskmaster UK's annual New Year's Treat specials.

Season 6 of the show is apparently the last one covered by the current five-season commission from Discovery, which was secured after the success of the trial first season, back in 2019. The press release did not mention whether the seventh season was part of another multi-season contract.
