Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Initially Iain and Lou argued about strategy (i.e. whether they should be making a plan or gathering heavy items), as Paul watched from behind a barrel. They eventually settled on a system of Iain being in the hammock holding items, Paul loading items onto the hammock, and Lou holding the hammock still. In the studio, Iain and Lou apologised for their behaviour during the task. Despite putting 89.1kg (plus Iain's weight) in the hammock, Lou let a book fall out of the hammock, so they were disqualified from the task.
  • Joe and Sian disconnected the hammock from the frame, laying it on the ground. They then put several heavy objects on the hammock, arguing that they had put things in the hammock (as 'in' means 'to be surrounded by') and that if you ordered a hammock online, it would arrive in a box disassembled, but would still be counted as a hammock.
