Josh’s chlamydia
Josh brings in a petri dish of chlamydia.
He explains that he brought it in because it is very bad and “it hurst genitals and koalas, which are two things that everybody loves”, but he suggests that the word ‘chlamydia’ is actually quite beautiful.
He argues that if people didn’t know what it was, they would love to meet ‘Princess Chlamydia’, and would think a puppy called ‘Chlamydia’ was super cute. Jenny then suggests that chlamydia also sounds like a type of flower.
Tom Gleeson points out that Josh’s whole argument is based on not knowing the meaning of the word, and that it would therefore work for every word, including ‘squirt’, ‘boat’, and ‘Sea-Monkeys’. Josh concedes that he got it wrong and that “somewhere in his head” he had changed the category to ‘sounds like’.
Josh earns 1 point.
