Episode synopsis

In this season premiere, the contestants must bring in the thing that most doesn’t look like what it is called, fill a frying basket with hot chips, build a scary scarecrow, try to make chess cool, and dance in a silent disco.

Title context

According to Wil Anderson, Tom Cashman said “don’t slip on the chips, old man” to him during the ‘Fill your basket with hot chips’ task, before then himself slipping on some sauce on the floor.

Taskmaster Intro

Hello, and welcome to Taskmaster Australia. That's right. We're back, thanks to season one's eye-wateringly high ratings, and the credit card I lent to a Channel 10 executive with a gambling debt. My name is Tom Gleeson, and for the next few months, I rise, much like the Holy Trinity. I may be Tom, I may be Gleeson, but I am also something else. I hover above those trivial earthly designations and I become the Taskmaster. Over the next 10 episodes, we'll watch five comedians complete a series of tasks that may seem silly to you, but are of utmost importance to me. I will grant points based on how badly they displease me, and the series winner will win something previously only possible if I'd gone back in time and kissed Midas on the mouth: it's this statue of my perfect head. I love you, little buddy.

Assistant Intro

Last to be introduced for both logistical and emotional reasons: my assistant, Tom Cashman.

Taskmaster's Sign-off

We’ve learnt the Taskmaster retreat is haunted by a spooky bikie boy. And we’ve learnt sometimes the funniest thing is lesser Tom absolutely stacking it on some sauce. But most of all, we’ve learnt that the winner of episode one is Wil Anderson.

Note: The phrase ‘stacking it’ means ‘falling over’. Tom Gleeson is referring to an incident shown during the ‘Fill your basket with hot chips’ task, when Tom Cashman slipped on some sauce on the floor, after warning Wil Anderson to beware the same spilled sauce.
