The first task brief is laid next to some fake crows on top of a bale of hay in front of the caravan. The second brief is handed to the contestants by Tom Cashman. The briefs for the task are as follows:
Build a scary scarecrow.
You have 30 minutes.
Your time starts now.
Attach your scarecrow to the stake in the paddock.
If a bird lands in the Taskmaster sunflower patch in the next four days, you will be disqualified.
Scariest scarecrow wins.

Task notes
- After receiving the second task brief, the contestants must relocate their creations to a nearby paddock, where a red pole has been staked into the ground, in the centre of a circular mowed patch of the grass. Fake sunflowers are dotted around within the circle.
