Attempts
Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!
- Iain made a volcano by burying a pipe in a pile of earth and stones, pouring 2 whole bottles of cola into the pipe, and dropping a net filled with Mentos into the pipe. He had put figures of the first 5 champions of Taskmaster (Josh Widdicombe, Katherine Ryan, Rob Beckett, Noel Fielding & Bob Mortimer) on the volcano, announcing he'd hope to join them as Champions. However, since he had already let most of the gas out of the coke, and had not created a bottleneck in his volcano to increase pressure, his eruption was extremely disappointing.
- Joe made two volcano eruptions: first by using baking soda and vinegar; and then by dropping Mentos into coke. Both eruptions came from the same brown cone of a volcano.
- Lou made a volcano by folding clay around a rock and painting it with spray paint. She then lit several 'indoor fireworks' of the type that create a 'snake' of ash as they burn.
- Paul made a volcano by covering a bottle of cola in a green blanket, and using a bike pump to squirt coke out of the top of the bottle.
- Sian made a volcano by covering a bin in a brown blanket, pipe-cleaners, jelly and dirt, and setting alight sparklers on the top.
