Puk focuses on colours
Puk begins her line of questioning by asking if the shoe is red. When Mark tells her that it is not, Puk goes around the room and removes all of the red shoes she can see.
She then asks if the shoe is black. When Mark tells her that it is not, she proceeds to remove all of the black shoes from display.
She then repeats this strategy for all the white shoes in the room.
Having eliminated roughly half of the shoes in the room, Puk begins to ask about individual pairs, to eliminate them.
She then resorts to playing a game of ‘hot or cold’, walking around the room and asking Mark if she is warm wherever she stops. This eventually leads her to the back corner of the basement where, after a few more incorrect guesses, she manages to locate the correct shoe.
Puk finds the shoe after 58 questions, and earns third place.
