Emma posts a pancake

Having read the task brief, Emma ponders the possibilities of the word ‘remarkable’, trying to think of any kind of footage she’s ever seen that would be considered remarkable.

Emma’s footage shows her approaching the door while mixing some pancake batter in a bowl, then pouring the batter into a frying pan while singing to herself. She then pulls a disposable lighter out of her sleeve and pretends to use it to cook the pancake, while slyly switching the pan with a pre-prepared one, off-camera. As she performs her pancake routine, she keeps repeating the phrase “Come on!” to herself. Once the pancake is cooked, she pulls out a large envelope, tips the pancake into it, seals it shut, kisses it, and then throws it on the doorstep. She then zig-zags away from the camera, up the driveway, hesitating briefly before announcing that she’s going to leave the pan behind.

In the studio, Greg observes – based on both this task, and her previous idea, during the ‘Become a multi-headed creature’ task that making a smoothie would be impressive – that the “peak of exhilaration and excitement” in Emma’s life seems to be “making relatively basic food”. When she acknowledges that this might be true, and asks Greg what she should do, he simply tells her to “do better”.

Ultimately, Greg decides to award “crepe woman” 3 points.
