Jack ignores all of the clues
After entering the lab to find Alex rotating on the spot, Jack asks him “Can I help?”. When Alex insists that he’s on a turntable, Jack is having none of it, stating “You’re not really though, are you?”.
Jack jumps straight in and starts picking pockets, finding the Chinese Five Spice, the rubber duck, the dog biscuit, the map of the house, the handwritten note warning him not to trust sound people or make-up artists, a modelling clay rocket, the light candle, another rocket, and Alex’s bag of yellow.
Jack is then shown finding the note telling him not to trust sound people or make-up artists, even though it was clearly seen on the shelves earlier, so some of the footage of his attempt was clearly shown out of order. In any case, he thanks Alex for the good advice, but doesn’t think to act on it.
Jack then continues picking pockets, finding the compass with his name in it, and the framed photo of himself, but fails to take the hints. He also finds the stone with a ‘Y’ on it, and more rockets (which are starting to annoy him).
He then finds one of the googly eyes, which he decides to stick to one of the lenses of his glasses, before finding the third pebble and identifying that they spell out the word ‘YOU’ (but still not taking the hint). He then finds the second googly eye and sticks it to the other lens of his glasses.
Finally, Jack finds the note telling him that the locket is in his own pocket, so he checks his pockets and finds it. He then asks Alex how he’d gotten it in there, and whether he’s David Copperfield now. He also discovers the lock of Alex’s hair inside the locket, and unconvincingly claims that he’ll treasure it.
In the studio, when Greg asks whether Jack or Babatunde had at any point thought there might be a better way to solve the task, Jack admits that he should have realised something was up after a member of the production crew had taken his jacket from him beforehand, and notes that he’d even thanked them for doing so.
Alex reveals that Jack had picked 70 pockets in total, before finding the locket, which earns him 2 points.
