Task brief
The task brief is tucked into the front of Alex’s jacket, in the lab. The brief for the task is as follows:
Pick the Taskmaster’s locket from its pocket.
Every time you pick an incorrect pocket, you must high five Alex.
If you touch, tamper with, or peek into a pocket, you must pick it.
Fewest pockets picked wins.
You have a maximum of 15 minutes.
Your time starts now.
Task notes
- Alex is wearing a suit jacket to which 108 external pockets have been added, each containing a single item. He is standing on a TM-branded, circular, red marker spot, and manually rotating himself on the spot. When questioned about this, he insists that he is standing on a turntable.
- Also in the lab, there is a narrow set of wooden shelves mounted on an easel, where the contestants may place any items they extract from Alex’s many pockets.
- The locket they are searching for (which is shaped like an envelope, and contains a small lock of Alex’s hair) has actually been hidden in a pocket in their own task outfit by either the make-up artist or sound man. There are several clues to this fact hidden in Alex’s pockets, including: a note which warns the contestants not to trust sound people or make-up artists; three stones with the letters ‘Y’, ‘O’, and ‘U’ on them; a compass pointing to the contestant’s own name; a tiny framed picture of the contestant; and another note simply telling the contestants that the locket is in their own pocket.
- Other items to be found in Alex’s pockets include: a lipstick; a jar of Chinese Five Spice; a matchbox containing a single raisin; a small map of the house; some nail clippers; a tea light candle; a disposable lighter; a bottle cap; a marble; a squeaky rubber duck; a dog biscuit; a model of a dog turd; a minidisc; a deflated balloon; a condom; at least eight modelling clay rockets (as seen in the previous episode’s ‘Put a rocket in your pocket’ task; a bag of ‘yellow’; an Alex Horne business card; a small container of milk; a padlock; some keys; a party popper; two googly eyes; and a picture of former contestant Richard Herring on a red fish (i.e. a ‘Red Herring’ – similar to the joke used during series 13’s ‘Find all 10 ducks in the lab’ task).
- Emma's prize task submission in a later episode involves a QR code which links to a page containing easter eggs, including the full list of the contents of Alex's pockets. In case that site ever goes down, a copy of the list may be found here.
