Emma experiences platonic arousal

Emma seems very excited to meet the robot. When Greg asks her to explain her reaction, in the studio, she reveals that she experiences “platonic arousal” around things such as mascots, Mr Blobby, and air-dancers, which she describes as “Big, stupid things” (thus coining the episode title).

Emma begins her attempt by stuttering as she walks around the robot, confused as to what she needs to do. When the robot asks her for instruction, she tells it to “Laugh”, while she leaves the room to find the charging station. As she searches the inside of the house, and then moves outside, she repeatedly instructs the robot to “Laugh”.

Having spotted the charging station behind the caravan, she returns to the living room to share the good news and then hugs the robot, prompting it to ask her not to touch it.

Re-reading the task brief, Emma decides to instruct the robot to “Crawl”. The robot struggles to get down on its knees, while muttering incomprehensibly, before Emma instructs it to laugh again.

The next we see of her attempt, the robot is back up on its feet, and Emma is trying to instruct it to “Follow” her, “Come”, or “Move”, none of which it will do. She then realises that she has overlooked the simple command of “Walk”. She also uses the command “Turn lady” to get the robot to turn towards her, and the command “Small” to get it to duck through the doorway of the living room.

Outside the house, Emma instructs the robot to move more quickly by using the commands “Run lady” and “Run my lady”, directing it around the caravan towards the shed. Once in front of the charging station, she again instructs the robot to “Laugh” while she grabs the charging cable and then plugs it in.

In the studio, Alex reveals that Emma had completed the task in 6 minutes and 56 seconds, which earns her 5 points.
