Everyone writes down answers to Greg’s questions

Joanne writes down the letter ‘T’, John writes down ‘L’, Nick writes ‘M’, Sophie writes ‘B’, and Steve writes ‘P’.

In the first round of the task, the contestants are instructed to write down the name of a country beginning with the letter which is four letters before their chosen letter. Joanne writes ‘Portugal’, John writes ‘Honduras’, Nick writes ‘India’, Sophie writes ‘Yemen’, and Steve initially writes ‘Morocco’ but then changes it to ‘Libya’. Sophie’s answer is incorrect, as ‘Y’ is three letters before ‘B’, but she fails to realise that she can write down another answer before Nick puts up his own, so she is eliminated from the game first, and earns 1 point (in any case, there are no countries beginning with ‘X’, so Sophie was doomed from the start).

In the second round, the contestants are instructed to write down a food that starts with the letter 25 letters after their chosen letter. Joanne writes down ‘ice’, John writes ‘kiwi’, Nick writes ‘lamb’, and Steve writes ‘olive’. Joanne’s answer is incorrect, as ‘I’ is only 15 letters after ‘T’, and she doesn’t offer a correct answer before everyone else already has, so she is eliminated from the game second, and earns 2 points.

In the third round, the contestants must write down something heavier than a cat which starts with the letter which comes 10 letters before their chosen letter. John initially writes ‘car’, but this is incorrect as ‘C’ is only nine letters before ‘L’. He wipes the word out and replaces it with ‘boulder’ in time to qualify for the next round. Nick quickly writes down ‘cow’ and also makes it through to the final round. Steve writes down ‘goose’, which is incorrect because ‘G’ is nine letters before ‘P’, and then does not offer up a correct answer before John, so he is eliminated third and earns 3 points.

In the final round, the contestants must write down a common lady’s name which starts with the letter that comes eight letters after their chosen letter. John quickly writes down ‘Tina’, while Nick writes ‘Ursula’ just moments later. As both answers are correct, John wins the task and earns 5 points, while Nick comes second and earns 4 points.
