Jack attempts to lie to his boyfriend
Jack sighs and ambles over to the barrels when Alex blows his whistle.
When Alex asks him how far he thinks he just walked, he estimates 40 yards / 40 metres. When Alex asks him how he is, he responds “Yeah, I have my good days, I have my bad days”. When Alex asks him how he’d slept the previous night, he responds that “Knowing I was coming to a theme park, I had a precautionary crap”. We do not hear the details of the dream that Jack shares with Alex, when he is asked about that.
After he’s read the task brief, Alex informs Jack that he has 4 minutes and 10 seconds to complete the task, and Jack responds that he wishes that his dream had been longer.
Jack throws a 1 with the die at barrel 1, and moves on to barrel 2. Although not seen in the edit, he presumably correctly answers “True” to Alex’s question about whether humans and giraffes have the same number of neck bones, and then moves on to barrel 3. Jack then manages to draw two black cards from the deck at barrel 3, and has to return to barrel 1.
Jack subsequently manages to claw his way back to barrel 3 and beyond, but the footage of this is highly condensed. The next we see of him, he is at barrel 5, where he is initially disappointed that ball number 2 has popped out of the bingo machine, before Alex reminds him that this is an even number. At barrel 6, he eats a chocolate from the chessboard and claims that it had contained a coffee bean. Alex seems to know that he is lying, and asks him to promise that he’d eaten the right one, prompting Jack to admit that he was lying. Jack does actually eat a chocolate-covered coffee bean on his second attempt, though, and with just 20 seconds of his time remaining, moves on to barrel 7. He immediately tosses a head with the giant coin, and then moves on to barrel 8, where he easily plucks a lemon from the box. With just 2 seconds remaining, he then moves to barrel 9, completing the task.
In the studio, Emma accuses Alex of being “extra sweet” with Jack, and suggests that perhaps he’s “a little bit nervous” around his comedy hero. Alex visibly blushes at this suggestion, but responds by dismissively stating “I’m not sweet with Jack. Couldn’t give a shit.” This prompts Jack to respond with “You’ve changed!”. When Alex subsequently mentions that Jack had ”nailed the task”, Greg teases him by saying “Oh, why don’t you just kiss him?”.
Alex confirms that Jack and Andy had both ended up on barrel 9, so they both earn 5 points.
