Hayley’s motivational maternal audio clips

Hayley says that the secret to her success is her mother in the ‘90s, but she doesn’t want to put her up as a prize. Instead, she’s brought in some audio clips of her mum yelling at her to practice her piano scales, including quotes such as “Turn that TV off and get on that piano”, “Beethoven didn’t have a TV, and that’s why he’s Beethoven”, and “You slam that piano lid one more time and you’re not going to Jessica’s party”.

When Ben points out that Hayley’s mum looks like the former New Zealand newsreader Judy Bailey, Jeremy suggests that she looks like a cross between Judy and the presenter Hilary Barry (with whom he hosts the current affairs TV show Seven Sharp).

Hayley earns 3 points.
