Abby confuses an older man

Abby begins her conversation by asking “Do you have a phone? And if so, what make is it?”. When the recipient, an old man with a long white beard, confirms that he has a Samsung, Abby says this makes her think that they are older.

When Abby then asks him “Do you remember the war?”, he confirms to the camera that he does, and notes that he was born before the war (probably referring to World War 2). When he responds to Abby to ask her “Which war?”, she initially wants to specify the Falklands War (1982), before changing her mind to the Iraq War (2003-2011). However, she appears to combine several messages into one, asking a follow-up question about his phone before mentioning Iraq, which just confuses the recipient.

Abby switches tack, asking the stranger what his favourite movie is. While he has a long think about the answer, Abby is shown staring impatiently at her phone, saying “Text me back”. She notes that it’s like dating in her 20s all over again, when she was really trying to keep the conversation going. The stranger finally responds to say that their favourite movie is “Braveheart”, which leads Abby to believe that they are older.

Abby then asks them who their celebrity crush is. When the stranger replies with “Monroe”, Abby deduces that they mean Marylin Monroe, and says that makes her think that they are even older. She guesses that they are 57 years old.

In the studio, Paul confirms that the man had sent the fewest texts out of all of the strangers. Since Abby’s stranger was actually 78 years old, Abby was 21 years out, and earns just 2 points.
