The Muppets take a coffee break and arrange some tetrominoes

Pete arrives on the scene first, and when Tom Cashman comments that he looks good in his outfit, Pete says that he also feels good. Rhys then turns up and comments that they are both dressed the same, again. Finally, Aaron runs across the lawn to join the team. When Aaron asks what they have been up to, Pete says “Just hanging about with my balls”.
In the studio, after naming the team of two “Ernie and Bert”, Tom Gleeson decides to name the team of three “The Muppets” before even seeing their attempt, convinced that they will live up to the name.
Once the task begins, Aaron spots the first tetromino in the back of the ute, and then Pete whispers to him “Your balls are my favourite.” As Rhys begins to arrange some of the tetrominoes together, Pete whispers to Aaron “Forget what your parents told you. I believe in you.”, prompting Tom Cashman to asks if that was actually a supportive comment or not. Aaron insists that it was, because Pete believes in him.
After Aaron asks if the blue and the orange pieces fit together, Tom prompts him to make a supportive comment to one of his team-mates, so Aaron whispers to Rhys “Um, your outfit is spick and specks.”, before correcting himself and saying “Spick and span.”
The team struggles to put the tetrominoes together correctly, and appear to start over several times. When Tom asks if they have considered using a method, Pete tells him to let them do their job. Aaron then says that they should think about it laterally. While Aaron is then thinking about it, Pete comments that it’s like watching A Beautiful Mind. The team then decide to start over again, and Pete attempts to kick the tetrominoes over.
After Aaron suggests a particular arrangement and asks whether they have already tried it, Rhys yells “I don’t know what we’ve done!”, before whispering it again and then adding “But I love that you’re keeping your eye just straight. I don’t think we can do this without you.” Tom then helpfully points out they are yet to prove they can do it with him, prompting Rhys to ask Tom what he thinks his role in the show is.
When Aaron claims that the problem is that there is no “long L shape”, Pete points out there are, in fact, a series of problems, before asking when lunch is. Pete then suggests that they all get a coffee and then come back to the task. When Tom asks for their coffee orders, Pete asks for a flat white, and Aaron requests a triple shot espresso.
After receiving their refreshments, Rhys poses the question “What even is a square?”, and Pete says “Yeah, like E equals MC squared”, before asking if anyone has actually “road-tested” that. Rhys tells Pete that they might come back to that thought, as they think Aaron may have solved the task. Aaron arranges a few tetrominoes, and then Pete asks Tom to hold his coffee as he places the final purple square in place, along with Rhys.
In the studio, Tom Gleeson says “Told you so! The muppets delivered!”, before adding that he has never seen a team take so long to complete a task that they had a coffee break in the middle. Tom Cashman reveals that the team had spent 9 minutes not adding or moving any blocks, but instead discussing whether to get a pepperoni or supreme pizza, while they waited for their coffees. Rhys says “I still reckon pepperoni”.
Tom Gleeson notes that Pete seemed to be confused by basic shapes, but had then launched into questioning ‘E equals MC squared’, prompting Pete to admit that mathematics is not his strength.
Aaron claims that he’d ordered a triple shot coffee to get him through the day, noting that the challenge of the task wasn’t putting the blocks together, it was dealing with “these guys”, adding that they are “hard work”.
Tom Cashman reads out some of the compliments the team had used during the task:
- Aaron to Pete: “You’re a nice bastard.”
- Pete to Aaron: “You should have hosted Fisk.” (referring to the sitcom Aaron appears in)
- Pete to Rhys: “I liked the way you took control of our pizza order, because I don’t think the production took it seriously for a while there until you were like, ‘No, we want pizza!’”.
- Pete to Aaron: “I’m a bit worried, if we have coffee and pizza, I might shit my pants.”
The Muppets completed the task in 52 minutes and 15 seconds, and each earn 2 points.
