Task briefs

The task brief is laid on top of a red, cardboard, T-shaped tetromino, next to the house, and held down under a cube made up from Lego bricks. The briefs for the task are as follows:

To Concetta and Mel:

Wearing your exercise ball vests, collect the seven odd shapes from around the Taskmaster retreat, and stack them into a perfectly square tower on the oblong.

You may not tamper with or remove your exercise ball vest.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts now.

To Aaron, Peter, and Rhys:

Wearing your exercise ball vests, collect the seven odd shapes from around the Taskmaster retreat, and stack them into a perfectly square tower on the oblong.

You may not tamper with or remove your exercise ball vest.

Also, one of you must whisper an original, supportive sentence in the ear of a team-mate, every 30 seconds.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • The contestants arrive at the scene of the task wearing special utility vests, to which four slings have been attached to hold exercise balls: one on the contestant’s front, one on their back, and one hanging from each side of their waist.
  • A red rectangle has been marked out in tape on the ground, around the red T-shaped tetromino upon which the task brief was presented, indicating the footprint of the tower to be constructed.
  • Colourful shapes made from cardboard boxes are hidden around the grounds of the Taskmaster house.
  • Although most of the shapes to be collected are valid tetrominoes, there are also some trominoes.
  • There’s a square purple tetromino on the table in the lab, a yellow L-shaped tromino at the side of the house, an orange skew tetromino on the bar, a blue skew tetromino in the shed, a straight green tromino in the caravan, and a second yellow L-shaped tromino in the bed of the ute.
  • The finished tower is a square measuring five boxes on each side.
