Rosie creates her own fish tank

Rosie carefully drags both of her hands back across the table while keeping the jars balanced, and then uses her mouth to take the weight of the one on her left hand, while she frees her appendage. She is then able to easily remove the jar from her right hand, and seal both jars with their lids.

Heading out of the house with the jars, Rosie investigates the caravan but does not spot the fish tank under its camo net. She then searches the rest of the garden and the shed, and looks into the caravan again from the outside, before deciding that she’s going to create her own fish tank.

Rosie sources a large hexagonal glass jar from somewhere in the house, and fills it with her vinegar on the table in the geodesic dome. After Alex asks her whether it’s a fish tank or a jar, she admits that it’s a jar, but then uses a marker pen to write ‘Fish tank (not a jar)’ on the side of it.

In the studio, after Greg questions whether he should disqualify Rosie for her solution, Alex provides the definitions of ‘fish tank’ as “a tank driven by a fish” or “a transparent container of water in which live fish and other water creatures and plants are kept”.

After Rosie argues that she had thought outside of the box, Alex reveals that she had completed the task in 15 and a half minutes, and had not spilled a drop of vinegar.

Greg decides not to disqualify Rosie, but states that he would have penalised her if they had been required to find a regular fish tank, rather than something based on “a stupid play on words”.

Rosie earns 2 points.
