Jason and Stevie exhaust themselves

Stevie begins by sitting and clapping while Jason jumps around Linda and towards Greg’s statue, where he retrieves the two flasks full of water. He manages to get the flasks back to where he started just as Alex blows his whistle, indicating that both team members must change their actions.

Stevie jumps while opening the flasks, while Jason sits and claps. By the time she’s figured out that one of the flasks contains cold water, it’s time to switch actions again.

Jason stands and opens the second flask, discovering that it contains hot water, while Stevie sits and claps. He then jumps off towards the caravan, until the whistle blows again.

Jason sits and claps while Stevie jumps over and into the hutch, where she finds the marbles, and starts counting them into a tambourine. When the whistle blows again, Stevie sits down and claps on the floor of the hutch, while Jason jumps over to join her and continue collecting marbles.

The pair continue to alternate jumping/marble collecting and sitting/clapping duties inside the hutch until they have filled the tambourine with what they think is all of the marbles. Jason then starts jumping it over towards Alex, but has to put it down after carrying it for five seconds.

After the whistle blows again, Jason sits on the ground, while Stevie emerges from the hutch, announcing that she’s found one more marble. Alex states at this point that he’d “love it if someone was clapping”, so Stevie yells at Jason to clap, and then states that they still need to get tepid water into an egg cup.

Stevie jumps over to the shed to look for an egg cup, while complaining about how tired she is already. When the whistle blows again, she sits by the shed, clapping, while Jason jumps over to where they’d left the flasks, picks up one of the lids, and asks Alex if it counts as an egg cup. When Alex states that they need to find an actual egg cup, Jason throws the lid hard at Linda’s flank.

After the whistle blows again, Jason sits on the driveway and claps, while Stevie jumps over to rejoin him and re-read the task brief. Jason spots the simple diagram of the grounds of the Taskmaster house on the back of the brief and shares the news with Stevie. At this point, there is no-one jumping nor clapping, as they are clearly both exhausted.

After another whistle blow, Jason jumps over to Olli the knight on the driveway, discovering the egg cup, while Stevie sits and claps. Before he can return the egg cup, though, the whistle blows again, so Stevie has to get up and jump over to him to retrieve it. Jason attempts to aid her by rolling the egg cup along the driveway towards her, as she jumps in his direction while swinging her arms around.

Stevie collects the egg cup from the ground, and then returns towards Alex with it as fast as she can, swinging her arms around wildly as she goes, as Jason yells at her to “Mix the waters!”. She has to stop to put the egg cup down briefly, as she has been holding it for five seconds, and then picks it up and resumes her jumping towards Alex, while exclaiming “My pants are falling down!”.

Upon reaching the mat where they’d left the flasks, Stevie kneels down and begins mixing the hot and cold water in the egg cup. After the whistle blows again, Jason jumps over to join Stevie, who is preoccupied with the water, and not clapping.

The pair both focus on mixing the water together and, after another whistle, Stevie gets up and hands the egg cup to Alex while still sort of jumping, and Jason lies exhausted on his side on the path, weakly clapping. Stevie then pours both hot and cold water into the egg cup as Alex holds it, as Jason complains that “my legs are on fire!”.

After Alex confirms that he’s happy with his tepid water, and again blows the whistle, Jason jumps over to collect the tambourine full of marbles, while Stevie sits on the ground, clapping.

After Jason delivers the marbles to Alex, and then sits down while Stevie takes over the jumping duties again, Alex checks with them whether they want him to stop the clock. This prompts Jason to respond, while clearly out of breath, “Stop it! Stop it, you asshole!”.

In the studio, Greg congratulates the pair on their teamwork, before highlighting Stevie’s arm-swinging jumping gait, stating “I’ve never seen another human move like that”. The footage is replayed on-screen in the studio a couple of times, in between which Jason points out that it looks like “there’s an invisible jump rope in there”, thus coining the episode title.

Alex reveals that the team had ended their attempt after 11 minutes and 45 seconds. After then revealing that the team of three had taken almost twice as long, he points out that the team of two had delivered their marbles in a tambourine, rather than a plate.

Given the loose interpretation of ‘jump’ used by the team of three, Greg decides to overlook Jason and Stevie’s use of a tambourine. However, after it is then revealed that they had also delivered one too many marbles, Greg rules that the team of three had won the task, and awards Jason and Stevie just 1 point each for “effort and hilarity”.
